Located in the heart of Ontario’s Lake Country, Orillia, affectionately known as “The Sunshine City, is a picturesque, four-season playground, just 90 minutes north of the Greater Toronto Area, on the shores of two beautiful Lakes, Simcoe and Couchiching.
Orillia is a City full of culture, arts and recreational opportunities. Home to the Mariposa Folk Festival, the Orillia Opera House, the Stephen Leacock National Historic Site, a unique heritage downtown with vibrant shops and a variety of restaurants, a beautiful waterfront with one of the most popular ports along the Trent-Severn Waterway and an ever-expanding lineup of festivals and events for all seasons.
While the area’s largest employer is Casino Rama, overall economic activity in Orillia is a mixture of many different industries including manufacturing, the OPP General Headquarters, the newly built Hydro One Distribution Centre, as well as customer service and tourism businesses. In addition, Orillia is also home to two post-secondary campuses, Lakehead University and Georgian College.
Residents have access to an excellent hospital as well as a range of other public services, including a new state-of-the-art recreation complex and public library, all located close to Orillia’s historic downtown.
